We update our Snowblog more than daily and so it's the best place to catch up on our news, ideas and thoughts on the book trade.
Training and speaking.
As you can see from browsing this website, we are happy to help you out by doing your sales and marketing, and cover design, and to get you set up to make the most of your ONIX data. But we'd really like it if you wanted to take control and learn how to do all these things for yourselves.
In our little team, Rob is highly IT literate, but Emma is an arts graduate, who is good at painting and reading, not computers. However, she's been able to learn all manner of what turns out to be 'techie' stuff, from a good grasp of Photoshop and InDesign through to a sound understanding of XML, XSL, HTML and CSS. You may think that you do not have the aptitude to learn how professional software works, and you may not want to roll up your sleeves and understand how your bibliographic data is stored. However, these skills are central to publishing - and once you command them, you are in a position to take control of the publishing process. The time - and frustration - spent waiting on third party contractors can be saved by learning the skills yourself and keeping the core processes of publishing in-house. It makes for an easier job, a huge amount of time and money saved and, perhaps most importantly, a sense of ownership and pride in your role.
If you want to develop the skills to take control, get back a sense of ownership and save time and money, get in touch.
