Sales and marketing.

Before founding Snowbooks, we worked for big retailers, in the buying and supply chain teams. It wasn't much fun, but because of this experience, we know how retailers work. This knowledge gave us our big break initially, when, as a new independent trade publisher we achieved what everyone said was impossible and struck up solid trading relationships with the large book retailers.

Our approach is successful because we put ourselves in the retailers' shoes. We like to think about what's relevant and important to them; what worries them, what they're being measured on - and then we do everything we can to help them achieve their aims. In the process, we tend to get what we want too, which is lots of book sales, but by being customer focused, and not merely paying lip service to the idea, we become profitable suppliers who are enjoyable to work with. And them's the kind of suppliers that retailers like.
